By Anne Amore For whatever reason your previous marriage didn't work out and naturally you've got mixed feelings about forming new relationships after divorce. You're frightened of choosing the wrong person and making the same mistakes. You feel like you can't afford emotionally, mentally and financially to go through all that pain again. And yet still... your heart knows that there's love out there for you and that you have a lot of love to give too. Somewhere inside you still believe it's possible to create blissful relationships even after a divorce. Listen to that wisdom. Hang on to that hope. Because it's true. You don't have to repeat the same patterns of emotional problems or communication problems in relationships. You can learn new relationship skills that will enable you to form a great romantic partnership that grows from strength to strength. Here are 3 love tips to help you on your way to fabulous, fulfilling new relationships after a divorce.... 1. Make sure you've really learned your lessons
It's frightening how many of us repeat the same mistakes over and over. It's like we carry some kind of internal 'relationships' template and we try and apply that same pattern of behaviour every time we are in an intimate relationship. When forming fresh relationships after divorce, throw out the inner template. Clearly it didn't work for you last time. Why repeat the same things? Come at your new relationships with nothing but a desire to discover new ways of being together in love. Understand that a relationship is a journey of discovery. It's an adventure that you navigate through. You'll experience storms, tempests, hurricanes, fog, and times when it seems like you are becalmed and nothing is happening in the relationship. Hold to your destination: love. Be true to your guiding light: love. And enjoy the journey. 2. Transform from powerless to powerful
Break the spell of the mundane and go within to really feel your feelings. Inside is where the magic of your life happens, not in the outer world. You've felt the pain of divorce and maybe you've deliberately numbed yourself to your feelings. That's okay, it's natural to protect yourself that way. Just realise that you fall in love and out of love in your head, in your thoughts and feelings about someone. As you can control your thoughts and manage your feelings, you have creative power over how your relationship feels to you. Right now, you could be in bliss if you wanted to. Or you could let your mindtalk create an experience of pain and self-pity. It all depends on what thoughts and feelings you choose to focus on. When building new love relationships after divorce it pays to take responsibility for your thoughts and feelings. Nobody else can make you feel bad or make you feel good without your participation. You're the one who chooses how to process what you are experiencing. When you experiment with this you will rapidly come to realise that you are free to be happily single if you choose to be or to enjoy wonderful, warm, passionate, affectionate relationships. You are the point of power in any relationship. Therefore you have 100% ability to create a wonderful relationship. 3. Get a better understanding of energy and how it works
By learning about energy interactions you will improve your ability to navigate relationships after divorce. You will realise that when you get too clingy and attached to someone it actually starts to drive them away, so you will know to step back a bit and give them some more space. Give them too much space and not enough affection and the attraction between you will start to waiver. There's a fine balance. And it's an ever-changing dynamic. When you think you've cracked the code, the dynamic will change. Life's like that. It's designed to keep you on your toes -- and keep you growing. Good relationships are alive and organic that way. Remember your romantic vision and your commitment to love as an idea and guiding principle, that way you will always find new, creative ways of building your love relationship. Like most things in life, wonderful marriages are earned through hard work, they don't just happen. That's the thing that we need to knock out of our silly little heads... this foolish idea that romance has to be spontaneous and that it will last forever. Even Romeo and Juliet would have gotten on each other's nerves if they had been given enough time together! Develop a spacious sense of tolerance in your new relationship. Treat it like the ultimate self-improvement program. Each day challenges you to be creative and innovative in your romantic and loving gestures. If you take Love as a characteristic you want to build into your nature, and practice being more loving every day, especially with your mate, you will be well on your way to creating a blissful love life. Get rid of your old templates and learn from those who know how to create blissful relationships, approach people afresh; exercise your creative power over the thoughts and feelings you focus upon; tap into your heart energy and strive to always improve yourself in your relationships. These are the simple steps that will help you create new, wonderful, love-filled relationships after divorce. Want a 'fairy tale' relationship? They do exist! Don't miss out! Seed Sowing
By Gary Spencer-Holmes As spring arrives us gardeners start to get ready for the coming season and a major part of this preparation is seed sowing. Sowing seeds and nurturing them through germination into strong healthy plants is without a doubt one of the most rewarding tasks in gardening. Watching nature work its magic is something that I never tire of seeing. Wherever you sow your seed, be it on a kitchen windowsill, in a greenhouse or garden shed, following a few basic rules will aid your chance of success. Foremost is hygiene, have a good spring clean before sowing. All pots and trays should be scrubbed clean with biodegradable detergent. Staging, worktops and the interior of the greenhouse can also be done at the same time. Now a decision has to be made as to which growing medium is to be used. There is a variety of seed composts available on the market but in general any medium that is not overly heavy, water retentive or high in nutritional value will suffice, personally I use coir and vermiculite. Coir is a by-product from coconuts, making it a renewable organic resource. The only downside to coir is the air miles involved in bringing it to this country although storage and transportation are easier now as it comes in dehydrated blocks slightly larger than a brick. When you are ready to use it place your coir brick in a tub, pour on the required amount of water and within ten minutes you have 10 litres of hydrated coir. Into this I mix vermiculite to help with moisture retention. A seed has enough resources within it to germinate and grow up to the two-leaf stage. Warmth and moisture are the keys to unlocking these resources; some seeds also need light (e.g. primroses). All seeds have different germination temperatures, most will germinate between 15C - 20C. Seedbeds need to be moist but not excessively wet, as this may encourage damping off, a condition where soil and water-borne fungi attack the seedlings stem base causing it to die. Some seeds need special attention (e.g. chitting or stratification) when sowing them but in general I fill my trays with the coir mix, broadcast my seed over this, cover with a thin layer of vermiculite and water gently, individual seed in pots are done exactly the same way. Larger seed such as broad bean or sunflower I push gently below the surface of the coir before covering them with vermiculite. Whether you sow your seeds in trays, pots or plugs is a personal choice. You will need to think about the amount of space you have as I always find I never have enough. Timing is important too, what type of soil do you have? How early in the year does it warm up? My new garden is still in the creation stages and I have a heavy clay soil that is slow to warm up, so I sow my seed slightly later, this avoids having an overflow of plants hardening off in the cold frames while I wait for the right planting conditions. Once the seedlings emerge and go past the two-leaf stage then its time to pot them on. Again we need to choose our growing medium. There are many ready-made types of potting compost available but personally I use a mix of three parts organic compost, one part coir and one part worm cast. Organic compost tends to dry out quickly which is why I add the worm cast. This not only helps with moisture retention but is also rich in nutrients. Worm cast can be purchased or you can invest in a worm bin and produce your own. It is a fantastic way of turning compostable kitchen waste into a nutrient rich soil improver. Place this new medium into your pots and prepare it by dibbing holes ready to receive your seedlings. When you lift your seedlings use a thin pointed object (e.g. a pencil), slide this under the seedling and tease it up whilst holding it by a leaf. Always hold the seedling by the leaf, should it break off it will only damage the seedling, where-as if you are holding the stem of the seedling and it breaks the seedling will die. Once the seedling has been transplanted into its new home it should be gently watered in. As your potted-on seedlings grow up brush your hand over them occasionally, this simulates the wind blowing and will stimulate root growth. The original medium you used to germinate your seeds can be put onto the garden, each year I have a different area where I do this on as often seeds that did not germinate will now do so, last year this happened to me with asparagus. Sowing seed outside depends a lot on your soil and your local microclimate. If you have a light soil and live in the south of England then you will of course be able to sow earlier than people with heavy soil or people living further north. For early spring sowing the temperature needs to get above 5C regularly. At this temperature the grass will start growing and of course weeds will start to emerge. Work your soil into a fine tilth and sow your seed as directed on the packet. Beware of weather though; often we have a nice warm period in March only for it to turn cold again in the beginning of April. It is always good to experiment with new ideas, soil mixtures and environments. Last year I grew carrots in plugs, the seed sowing process was long, fiddly and tedious but in the end the results were worthwhile. The carrots that I sowed directly into the soil performed poorly while the plugs did extremely well. I was able to avoid the main period of carrot fly activity by planting them out later and of course there was no thinning needed. At the moment I am trying out two/three year old leaf mulch in seed and potting composts. I hope this will mean I can reduce the amount of coir I use. Do not be afraid of mixing up colours, vegetables with flowers or different leaf textures. Make your garden your own. The important thing is that you enjoy your garden be it big or small. Growing it from seed whilst helping nature along without trying to control her is to me the real essence of what gardening is about. Once your plants have grown up we can then look at seed saving along with the sowing of varieties threatened by extinction due to commercialisation, but that as they say is another story. A Dream Wedding on a Budget?
By Gigi Mill How do you plan a dream wedding without busting your budget or looking cheap? I am sure there is zillions of advice out there and by now all you brides to be or wanna be brides must be tired of hearing it. Well I have to put in my two cents (or two dollars for that matter seeing how the inflation has hit us all in the past decade or so). First of all you have to face the fact that weddings are expensive and according to one national survey the average cost of wedding is anywhere between $25,000 to $45,000. Now the million dollar question you have to ask yourself is that whether you think this substantial investment is worth the price for the ceremony that may or may not bind you with your prince charming till death do us part? If the answer is Absolutely, then lets get down to earth for a second and be sensible about the whole thing. I know sensible is boring but it does save you getting into unnecessary debt for the rest of your natural life. Now the next step is to ask help from well wishers around you how in getting your fantasy wedding without spending tens of thousands of dollars. There have been lot of books, magazines, TV shows and Blogs of course to steer you in the right direction if your well wishers are too busy with their own lives. After the initial research and soul searching and provided the wedding is still "on" by this time go to work. There are tons of resources for budgeting your dream without looking cheap and if your head is still in cloud nine and you cannot deal with the practicality of the situation my advise to you is get the Wedding Planner, put your budget in front of the planner and save your self all the hassle and have a wonderful wedding, after all "You deserve it". Now there are some pointers you can give your Planner to show her who is actually in charge of the show. Some of those pointers which will elevate you in the eyes of your planner are 1. Selecting Your Wedding Date Now be very pragmatic (I know its hard at a moment like this)about selecting a wedding date. Everybody knows that the Peek wedding season is between May and September. May be April or October wedding would be a good idea. 2. Wedding Location Some Locations that do not specialize in hosting weddings are a good alternative to Hotel ballrooms and banquet halls. 3. Style and Size A small guest list is very desirable at this point and will open doors at lot of less expensive locations 4. Wedding Essentials and Accessories Buy Off Season and again Buy Off Season You can even buy great designer stuff at reasonably affordable prices when everybody is making room for new season inventories 5. Reception and Ceremony Skip on Lavish sit-down dinners, opt for creative decor, Favors and Gifts And last but not least Enjoy Your Wedding Day as it is your special day and it is all about you. Atkins Diet Foods A Guide To Low Carb Food Products
By Kevin Urban Atkins diet foods are many and varied, so much so that many people are surprised at just how many different kinds of foods are allowed on the Atkins diet food plan. You still have the responsibility to select appropriately and double check the actual carb content of different foods, but you will quickly learn just how varied and interesting a low carb lifestyle can be. The Basics of the Atkins Diet Plan The basic philosophy behind the Atkins diet plan is that if you switch to a low carb diet your bodys metabolism will adjust and start to burn stores of fat. The process starts during the induction phase when you change your eating habits substantially so that you only consume 20 grams of net carbohydrates per day. Net carbs are determined by taking the total grams of carbs in a food and subtracting the amount of fiber grams. Once you are past the 14 day induction phase you then start to increase your daily net carb intake a little bit each week starting at 25 grams per day, then the next week going to 30 grams per day, and so forth. As you raise your intake gradually, you pay attention to how much weight you continue to lose, until you find a level at which weight loss slows significantly or stops altogether. When you get close to your goal weight, you move into pre-maintenance and maintenance phases so that low carb choices become part of your everyday lifestyle. Defining Low Carb Foods Low carb foods are those that have low enough levels of carbohydrates that they are considered Atkins diet foods. In general, meats, poultry, fish, leafy green vegetables, eggs and butter form the core assortment of your low carb food choices. Some cheeses and other dairy products are relatively low carb but typically are not allowed in huge quantities while on the Atkins low carb diet plan. Remember, though, a food which is high in carbs but also high in fiber can be eaten as part of a low carb lifestyle because the goal is to keep net carbs low, not just carbs as a whole. Make sure you read the labels of the foods you buy to determine the net carbs, and consider carrying a pocket sized carb counter with you to double check the net carb counts in fresh foods. As the Atkins diet plan exploded in popularity over the last few years, many food producers have tried to get in on the phenomenon by promoting their products as low carb. The problem is, though, that many of these foods are not really low carb. With the exceptions of certified Atkins diet foods, you should never just believe the large print on the front that says low carb. Always, always read the nutrition label and confirm for yourself whether or not the food is really low carb. Finding Low Carb Foods Finding low carb foods is as easy as going to the grocery store, dropping into the convenience store located at your neighborhood gas station, or going to your favorite restaurant. Of course, some places will have a better selection of Atkins diet foods than others will, and some will also have more high carb temptations, but there is no reason for you to visit a specialty store in order to get the low carb foods you need. Atkins Diet Foods from the Grocery Store In the grocery store you have a huge selection of foods, ranging from fresh to processed, all of which you can check for net carb count. Processed foods will have nutrition information printed on the outside box or label, making it easy to determine net carbs. Fresh foods are a bit more difficult because that information is not printed on the food item and usually not on the shelf label. You can certainly remember a few core fresh foods that are allowable, but a really good tool is to carry a carb counter in your purse or pocket so that you can check it if you have any questions. Convenience Store In a convenience store, you have to search a bit more for the low carb Atkins diet plan foods. The big display of chips, candy, cookies and more is not a place you are likely find low carb choices, but if you go a little further in you can usually find official Atkins snack bars, liquid shakes or even some fresh foods that are low carb. Restaurants Restaurants can be a bit tricky because you do not always know what is in that great tasting gravy or sauce, but most eating establishments now offer designated low carb choices. If in doubt, order your meal without sauces and other add-ons that may have hidden carbs. When you find a restaurant that serves a good selection of low carb foods that you enjoy, be sure to give the manager or owner positive feedback and make that establishment a primary choice whenever you want to dine out. Atkins Diet Plan Meals Atkins diet foods are much more than individual foods. They can be combined in many ways to create tasty and interesting meals, but even the most dedicated low carb follower can get tired of the same old thing. The best way to keep your low carb meals interesting is to seek out a variety of Atkins diet plan meals. There are many cookbooks and recipe books available that are filled with low carb meal choices using approved Atkins diet foods. All you have to do is mix and match each day or each week to keep a variety of meals on the table. Another reason to have a good cookbook or recipe book on hand is for those times when you are tired, running late or otherwise need to come up with something low carb to eat when maybe you do not feel like putting a lot of effort into it. These are the times when you will be most tempted to grab something that is not low carb, so having a collection of Atkins diet food recipes close by can help get rid of that temptation. Meeting Women At the Club or a Music Festival Whats the Difference
By Teddy Shabba When it comes to meeting single women at music festivals a lot of men approach the situation as if they were going to a bar or club. However, the only similarities between music festivals and clubs are that they both play music and serve alcohol. Single women at music festivals are generally more open and of higher quality than those that frequent clubs because there is a specific reason why they are there. Single women at clubs usually say they are there to dance or hang out with friends, yet the truth of the matter is they either went to show off and tease guys or are looking for a man. Which means there radar is going to be up and you have to do a lot of thing in order to get her, granted those things once you know them are not hard but you still have to do them. However, single women at music festivals are there because they like that particular genre of music or they are looking to have a good time. Either way for men it means she is going to be much easier to meet, either you will already have a connection based on the assumption you like the same type of music or she is looking to have fun and so are you. Of course the type of music festival that you go to is going to play a big factor in the type of women that you meet. The woman of Ozzest are going to be into a certain type of a guy and fun for the most part that is nowhere close to the type of guy and fun that the Sedona Jazz festival woman is looking for. Another difference between music festivals and clubs is you can walk around at a music festival and enjoy yourself more freely than the overcrowded jam-packed atmosphere of a club. The Practice of Human Resource Management
By Jennifer Burns In early 90th, Ping An Insurance Company was the first company to introduce senior personnel from abroad. In such way company managed to absorb advanced human resource management strategies. Company acknowledges well existence of the war on experienced human capital. There is a distinct lack of well experienced and cross functional insurance agents, certified risk managers, investment specialists and actuaries, IT specialists and top executive management with international background. As reported in the internal report on human resource strategy of Ping An Insurance Company, the majority of companies currently rely on buying ready made talent. As such, company selected strategy opposite to that of competitors: Ping An human resource strategy is centered on labor development and retention. Short term goals include learning and development opportunities, culture value, and incentive salary system that includes defer payment, stock option and variable pay. Company launched Talent Pool Project targeting the long term positive outcomes. The human resource plan has three major strategies each of which can be further subdivided into 3 human resource programs. Talent pooling is realized through identification of the gap between existent labor force and company needs through competence evaluation to be selected and identified by line managers. Instead of buying out skilled labor force, Company chooses to develop own talent through job training, formal training provided by Ping An university, and project assignment. When it comes to succession planning, the strategy involves objective evaluation of employee performance, design of an individual carrier path, provision of mentoring support. As such, Ping An employs primarily Chinese style human relations management, whereas the long term strategies are primarily focused on employee empowerment and training the view brought in by top management from abroad. Family reunion activities
By Kristy Annely A family reunion with no fun or excitement becomes just another ordinary day, thus making it lose its significance. To make the family reunion unforgettable and enjoyable, it becomes vital to plan some activities and events that can be enjoyed by people of all generations. Any activity that can engage the whole gang, and put them in high spirits, will make this special day more special. By making some effort, and thinking with a creative frame of mind, you can organize a series of fun-filled activities for the whole family. There are a variety of reunion games like scavenger hunts, card games, tug-of-war, sack races, or volleyball, that can keep everyone engaged and help them enjoy the reunion to the fullest. Then, to commemorate the reunion, you can all plant a tree together. Thus, whenever any family members see the tree, they will definitely think about the rest of the family and the reunion day. To make the day even more entertaining, you can arrange to rent a karaoke machine or a disc jockey, and organize activities like dance competitions. You can also organize a funny dress-up competition, in which each team has to dress up in the funniest possible way. Then show a family movie, with some memories of each family member, to give an emotional and sentimental value to the reunion day. Apart from that, an evening pizza party, or a story hour for kids, can make them participate in and enjoy the day to its fullest. A fun-filled day with lots of activities that bring all the members close is the best way to celebrate a family reunion. Indoor Playground Equipment
By Richard Romando Indoor playground equipment can keep a child busy for hours while it develop her strength, agility, dexterity, balance and concentration. Indoor playground equipment can be single-unit or multi-unit; the material used may be metal or wood; special requirements such as disabilities, the number of children who may use the equipment at the same time and the type of activities to be included should be considered in providing accessories like stools, tables, racks or litter bins . Indoor playground equipment can be installed in malls, retails outlets, hospitals, schools or homes and can be customized to suit children of all age groups from infants to teens. There are various aspects to be considered while buying playground equipment: is there enough room for the equipment? What is the size and shape? Is the surface under the equipment safe and resilient? Is there enough space between the pieces of the equipment? Is the equipment suitable for the child? Does it seem risky or unsafe in any way? Are there any protruding objects that might poke or hanging ropes that can strangle or cause the child to trip or fall? Is it easy to maintain? Is it environment friendly? Manufacturers are designing indoor playground equipment very innovatively. This includes theme-based equipment like play systems that look like castles, forts, barns, planes, ships, trains and cars. One manufacturer even recreated a whole forest theme complete with caves, trees, tree houses, mountains, water falls and slides. The Internet is a source for locating as well as ordering indoor playground equipment. There are several web sites so you can compare prices. Most manufacturers offer online designing, which would not only save time but also enable you to get the best deal at the best price. Playground Equipment provides detailed information about playground equipment, commercial playground equipment, school playground equipment, residential playground equipment and more. The Cause and Treatment of Anal Fissure - A Different View
By Dr. Chris Reynolds The symptoms of most anal fissures can be relieved with wheatgrass. You won't have to change your diet, drink gallons of water, use stool softeners or load your bowel with fibre. Best of all, you won't have to suffer the pain and bleeding that can be so distressing in this condition. Surgery, like botox injections and other expensive procedures should only be considered as a last resort. Anal fissure - What is it? A fissure is a split or tear at the outer end of the anal canal wall, usually at the posterior or back side of the anus. In chronic fissures, a skin tag known as a sentinel pile often overlies the fissure and can be mistaken for a painful hemorrhoid. The power of wheatgrass healing Although it affects a different part of the body, anal fissure results from a breakdown in the anal wall very much like a split lip which, as many of us know, can also be very painful and difficult to treat. A young male patient suffered this problem for more than a year and received numerous treatments that didn't work including steroids and antibiotics. His wound however healed in one week after only one application of wheatgrass cream. (See link at the end of this article for photographs) What are the symptoms of anal fissure? Typical symptoms may be: Pain, which can be severe, during and after bowel movements Red blood in the stool (blood on the toilet paper) Constipation - due to pain causing avoidance of passing stool Anal itchiness, burning Difficulty in passing urine
Why is there so much pain? The area where anal fissure occurs is supplied by numerous nerve endings that are highly sensitive. Even a tiny split in the wall of the anal canal can be very painful, particularly during a bowel motion when the anal muscles are stretched. Who else gets anal fissure? Anal fissure is very common. It is estimated that approximately 250,000 new cases occur each year in the US alone. It can occur in newborns and right across the age spectrum to old age, and affects both sexes equally. It is most common from young adulthood to middle age. Pregnancy and childbirth can aggravate or initiate the condition. How long does it last? Approximately 50-60% of anal fissures will heal spontaneously. However it can recur or become chronic (sometimes lasting for years) in the other 40-50%. How is anal fissure diagnosed? Symptoms of pain and rectal bleeding will alert your doctor to make a simple examination of the outer end of the anal canal. If an acute fissure is present, it will look like a small tear in the posterior (the back end, near the spine) of the anus. Chronic fissures have thickened edges and a sentinel pile as mentioned earlier. If considered necessary, particularly if bleeding is present, the doctor will arrange further investigations such as colonoscopy to exclude other causes of blood loss. How is anal fissure treated? My method is simple. I use a wheatgrass extract in a cream base and get the patient to apply a small amount just inside the anal opening twice daily with a cotton bud. In greater than 80 percent of cases, the symptoms disappear, usually within four to six weeks, sometimes within a few days. Because the fissure itself is not a life-threatening condition, it is not essential to heal the fissure although most of them do heal in time. The aim should always be to rid patients of their symptoms so they can resume a normal quality of life something that wheatgrass is very good at. What causes anal fissure? Doctors invoke all kinds of reasons why fissures develop including constipation, hard bowel motions, diarrhea, inflammation, reduced blood flow to the anal region, poor bowel habit and even spiky foods such as peanuts. They seem to forget that many fissure patients do not have constipation, (some in fact have diarrhea) and some babies are born with fissures. It is unlikely the cause is related to trauma unless there is some direct injury to the anal wall e.g. from colonoscopy or childbirth. More likely, the fissure occurs first and the constipation follows. In other words, constipation is an effect and an aggravating factor, not a cause of anal fissure. How do I know this? The answer is based on simple clinical observation of numerous patients with chronic constipation. Many of them had undiagnosed chronic anal fissures, because an anal examination had not been performed. Following relief of pain with wheatgrass treatment their constipation cleared up. Therefore, I believe that anal fissure is most likely an auto-immune condition. What does auto-immune mean? Normally the immune antibodies our bodies produce act to stave off bacteria, viruses and other organisms that try to invade the body, and to kill off cancer cells that continually develop inside us. When this system goes awry, such as when the body undergoes severe or prolonged emotional or physical stress or severe illness, these antibodies can attack and damage healthy cells, tissues or organs. This is called an auto-immune reaction which can eventually cause an auto-immune condition if it continues long enough. In rheumatoid arthritis for example, joints can become severely damaged. i.e. they become red, swollen and painful and eventually lose their function. My theory is that this is what occurs in anal fissure and possibly in other similar painful conditions such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis and perhaps even in a split lip. For some reason, these antibodies attack the mucous membrane on the anal wall. This breaks down and the fissure opens up. At time of passing stool, the anal muscles reflexly go into spasm and the bare nerve endings in the fissure produce a painful sensation. The pain leads to stool avoidance which can then cause constipation which aggravates the fissure and the whole process becomes cyclical. Unless some way is found to heal the fissure, or the body repairs itself, the fissure becomes chronic. The anal verge being unable to "rest" for any length of time because of the need for bowel evacuation, the fissure remains open. So the aim should be to fix the fissure, not the constipation. However, this has never been an easy task until now. How does wheatgrass work for anal fissure? Having used wheatgrass on thousands of patients for a variety of conditions it has been strikingly obvious to me that it facilitates natural healing e.g. for wounds, burns, fractures, anal fissure etc. One can actually see the healing in progress for example in burns and infected wounds when the open wound is re-covers itself with a thin film of new cells in 24-48 hours. This keeps the body fluids in and the bacteria out, and the patients pain disappears as well. These are not phenomena one sees when the body is healing itself unaided. Wheatgrass in some way normalizes damaged tissue and facilitates rapid healing. It can also work dramatically in some cases of auto-immune related disorders such as acne rosacea and psoriasis. In other words, it appears to act as a topical (surface) immunomodulator. Wheatgrass is a powerful, natural healing agent that often works when nothing else does. Weight Loss Relating To Lipovarin
By Jean Helmet Weight loss is a process by which the weight of the human body is reduced by following a set of diet combinations coupled with regular exercises. Weight loss becomes a necessity as unwanted fat gets deposited in different parts of the body leading to obesity. This in turn gives rise to various types of disorders and diseases. Every health conscious individual adopts some sort of weight loss programs in their daily routine. Weight loss can be effectively achieved by using some weight loss supplements in addition to the regular diet and exercise. But, the desired weight loss can be achieved in a short point of time if carefully selected weight loss supplements are also included in the weight loss program. The best way to weight loss is primarily preventing the unwanted weight gain. This can be done by taking care of what you eat and the diet determines the weight of your body. To get the desired weight loss in your body you must take foods that give lesser calories than what your body utilizes for your routine work. This will make the body burn the excess of fat contained in your body resulting in weight loss. Yet another way of weight loss is by doing regular exercises. When you go for work outs, your body needs energy to do the exercises and it burns the fat accumulated in your body to get energy. Weight loss can be achieved more easily and in a healthy way when we add weight loss supplements made of minerals, vitamins and other nutrients. Weight loss supplements are available both as herbal based natural products as well as man made artificial products. Weight loss supplements can be used to increase the rate of weight loss in a healthy way giving you a way to have a leaner, healthier body. Weight loss is a necessity with advancing age, and this has to be achieved by a strict diet control and regular exercises. Usually, with advancing age, we tend to work less and the physical activity becomes less. If we do not limit the quantity of food we take and have a careful eye on what we eat, the weight gain cannot be prevented. Weight loss becomes a must in all cases of over weight people, as this leads to some of the serious health conditions like, high blood pressure, high levels of cholesterol in the blood, circulatory problems and heart disease etc. So, in these circumstances, it is very important to adopt the correct weight loss strategy that is correct for you. You need to stick to it until you are able to achieve the desired level of weight loss. E-banking (Online Banking) and Its role in Today's Society
By Verena Veneeva The world is changing at a staggering rate and technology is considered to be the key driver for these changes around us (Papers4you.com, 2006). An analysis of technology and its uses show that it has permeated in almost every aspect of our life. According to Tero et al (2004) many activities are handled electronically due the acceptance of information technology at home as well as at workplace. Internet can be seen as a truly global phenomenon that has made time and distance irrelevant to many transactions. According to Heikki et al. (2002), the transformation from the traditional banking towards e-banking has been a leap change. The evolution of electronic banking started from the use of automatic teller machines (ATM) and has passed through telephone banking, direct bill payment, electronic fund transfer and the revolutionary online banking (Alter, 2002). The future of electronic banking according to some is the acceptance of WAP enabled banking and interactive-TV banking (Petrus & Nelson, 2006). But it has been forecasted that among all the categories, online banking is the future of electronic financial transactions. The rise in the e-commerce and the use of internet in its facilitation along with the enhanced online security of transactions and sensitive information has been the core reasons for the penetration of online banking in everyday life (Papers4you.com, 2006). According to the latest official figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS, 2006) indicate that subscriptions to the internet has grown more than 50% from 15 million in 2000 to 35 million in 2005 in the UK. It has also been estimated that 60% of the population in the UK use internet in their daily lives. The fundamental shift towards the involvement of the customer in the financial service provision with the help of technology especially internet has helped in reduce costs of financial institutions as well as helped client to use the service at anytime and from virtually anywhere with access to an internet connection. According to theorists (Walfried et al., 2005) customer evaluation of the electronic services is influenced by attributions of success and failure in inter personal service situations. The use of electronic banking has removed the banking personnel that facilitate the transactions and has placed additional responsibilities on the customers to transact with the service. Although the use of E-banking is provided for the benefit of the customers but these changes require increased work or involvement on the part of customers. These and other factors might be seen as lesser service provided in terms of customer service. But these assumptions would be wrong if the customer knows the value of using the electronic service. Thus it can be concluded that a fit between task i.e. the banking; technology i.e. the user interface and its reliability; and individuals i.e. the customers and their knowledge about using the service, is the key to successful E-banking services (Zigurs & Buckland, 1998). Updo Hair Style
By Tim Grimsley Jennifer's updo hairstyle. Jennifer Aniston has recently worn one of the hottest hairstyles among hollywood celebrities right now. Updo hair styles are as hot as the summer sun right now. Jennifer's updo of choice is the stacked ponytail. This is called a stack because more than one ponytail is used, each one is then stacked on the next. It seems that high ponytails are the most popular updo's this summer. We are seeing them worn by plenty of starlets. If you are looking for something a little more formal then this year your best choice is probably a classic french twist. This is a fairly simple hairstyle that carries a timeless elegance. For playful weekend excursions a tousled pull up held in place with a large hair clip is extremely trendy. When you clip it remember to place the clip high, near the crown of your head. This gives a playful, but sexy look that is easy and will last all day. If you are looking for an updo for a wedding, the choice this year is a half up/half down. This is great for a wedding because it gives you the elegance that you want and the sexy look of flowing hair. There also many great products that are new this year, check them out. Authentic in Love - the Three Great Secrets of Authentic Living
By Christopher Walker The Laws of Nature reveal a certain perspective on life, like a knowing or trust that, underneath what may seem to be a very serious situation, the worst is really not all that bad. This is the mark of an inspired individual, one who has found stillness and therefore an unshakable perspective on everyday life. The book relates everyday living with authenticity to the journey one takes to climb a mountain, or walk up and down a hill on one of Chris's journeys to the Himalaya. There are three keys to Personal authenticity 1/ Balance Understanding the great wisdom of emotional awareness 2/ Calm The quiet contentment that comes from the wisdom of Nature. 3/ Centering Knowing yourself, your vision and dreams. There is no greater end to life than to become authentic To our true nature. To do so we must truly understand the mysteries of life. In this nature is our teacher. Then we can apply those tools to our life. And in helping others Authenticity Finding the Balance True Authenticity means a person has become more what they were meant to become. In living authentically we aspire to be complete. That means totally content, comfortable with who we are, inspired by a purpose larger than ourselves and connected to the source of vitality of life. At this point we can totally surrender and become what is called our true potential. Whatever this means, the ultimate experience is to be in total contentment within. Internally, to desire nothing, to want absolutely nothing, we are happy as we are, where we are. To desire nothing from the inside out, means to be totally content with yourself. When everybody else is running around stressing about life, you might be able to see, that there is nothing to change, the only thing that is challenged is the way you see the world. Behind the world of materiality, success, ambition, goal setting, desire and self improvement sits another world. Behind the curtain sits another world, where everything is perfect, where the laws of nature are perfectly functioning. Whether it be a world trade centre, a Tsunami, a bomb on a bus or HIV in our lives, we see an order, a perfect order, and from that we know, that everything is working to a perfect pattern, the universal laws of nature. This is real wisdom. It is not religion that tells us how to live with each other, it is a silent awareness that love, consciousness and a certain spirituality sits behind everything. We can see it, and therefore, from behind the curtain, separate for this short moment from materiality and our ego, we see the order in the chaos, the mind of creation, the laws before the laws, love. With this perspective there is nothing lacking; there is no desire, no movement. And then from this place we can step back out from behind the curtain and live and act with authenticity, all actions are taken with purity. Then whatever you touch, whatever you are doing or not doing -- even just existing -- is a peak experience. You are alive and that is enough. Then growth can occur in harmony with nature. There is a certain relaxed calm that descends over a person who has found their True Nature. The inner power, the heart, gives a radiance, a constant showering of love and inspiration seems to come from them. There is a silent power surrounding them. Like the mountains of Nepal. When a person has found authenticity, they have become content with themselves and their energy becomes infectious. Just as negativity can be infectious so the positive energy of an inspired person can become infectious. We know this as leadership and radiance. But it is not leadership of the mind or intellect, it is leadership of the human spirit. Inner Calm - The Laws of Nature There are many planes of existence and the material one is on the surface. On this plane we may choose to live out most of our life and so a great journey takes place here. However, there is no security in the world of materials. Human security cannot be achieved through bondage or materiality. Often we become trapped in the transient consciousness of the material realm, hoping that the formality and structure of such a realm can appease the fears and questions we all carry within. Security cannot be found like this. The material realm is the smallest drop in the great ocean of life. Absolutely nothing can keep an individual from exploring and discovering that great ocean? There are human laws, morals, ethics, ideals, ideologies, religions, beliefs, cultures and codes of rights and wrongs. These hold the fabric of our societies together and help us manage our relationships with the world, the material world outside of us. But those laws are not the truth. Those are human laws. Created by people, each one claiming they got it from above and for all we know, maybe that is true. But until those laws are universal, how can they come from the one above? They are holding fragments of the story, but their cultures and fears have made what they hold, true to the material realms they live in, but false to their origins. Nature is a good mirror to use. She doesnt hold a fragment, and doesnt care for your ideologies. Neither does she care whether there are morals and ethics to protect you from your fears. Nature wants to do as nature was designed. When anything contradicts the laws of nature, it dies. Sickness, disaster and loss come from a breakdown between the individual perception of the best way to do something and the universal laws of natures advice. You can argue with nature, but you cant win. Your authenticity is transparent. You may say I am a yoga teacher but people see through you. You may say you are happy, but your disease reveals you. There is no escape from the laws of nature, they can be fooled for a while, but such things are aberrations. If living falsehood is more important than living authenticity, you will aspire to wealth, relationship, career, knowledge and more, without love. Such, is democracy, the western model of success. A victory at all cost. In nature, it is humility that defines success. In the west being right is the height of achievement, in nature, there is no such thing. Centering authenticity is the natural desire of the human spirit We have an innate calling for authenticity. It is natures way, the tree must become the tree. Anything that blocks this causes disease and disaster. It is called, the hunger of the soul, or the truth of living. We must occasionally shake the appetite for material needs and then celebrate what life is, rather than what it could be. You will hear many people say you can do anything, you can be anything, and these people are right. But can you be and do anything and be happy? Here they are wrong. Motivators and inspired speakers celebrate the possibilities of doing, being and becoming but in doing so, condemn many people to a life they are not comfortable living. A scientists becomes a bank teller, a bank teller becomes a musician and lovers merge because they have romantic aspirations instead of realistic expectations. We must become authentic to find happiness.
Happiness does not come from doing something.
Happiness comes from the contentment one feels
when we are doing something that we are meant to be doing,
born to be doing, love doing.
This is true authenticity. The business leader who has a passion for the profit but hates the conflict between their life and their work will end up sabotaging both. Life is work, work is life. A happy individual is doing the work they love, they love their work and therefore they come home happy. They are not blaming their work for their stress or their relationship. They are happy, in love with life, in love with their job, and this is a person a family or a lover wants to be around. Not because they work hard, but because they are authentic. They say in some teachings that if you become desireless, you'll know yourself. But the contrary is true; if you know yourself, you will become desireless. It is only the lack of self love that makes us want to change anything at all. When we feel incomplete, we think we dont have enough, and this drives us to go about proving ourselves worthy. This is a result orientated life, we need to overcome this and begin to focus on the joy of the process, and allow the results to care for themselves. True authenticity can then become the path to true contentment. Finding true Authenticity does not necessarily mean that you are satisfied on the outside. It simply means that you are satisfied on the inside. True authenticity means that you, the inner you have extinguished all inner turmoil. But this does not mean that your external world is unproductive. No, it means that you are coming from a healthy productive mindset. You are not reacting, causing problems, stressing people, lying to yourself. Authenticity means that you are living with integrity, and aspiring to all the great material joys life has to offer. -- Summary - There are three keys to Personal authenticity 1/ Balance Understanding the great wisdom of emotional awareness
2/ Calm The quiet contentment that comes from the wisdom of Nature.
3/ Centering Knowing yourself, your vision and dreams. These are the skills you learn on a trek in Nepal or high in Bhutan. Loyalty Cards Systems - Beware, Some Should Be Avoided
By Jeff Walters Recently, I discussed a loyalty card system with a vendor who was selling quite a number of his systems to restaurants. I was shocked to discover the lack of detailed information that this vendor catered for, and the opportunities the system he provided squandered. The way their scheme works is that whenever a restaurant customer is presented with a bill, they provide their loyalty card to the waiter, who swipes it at the till. If the customer has accumulated sufficient points from previously purchased meals, he/she is awarded a rebate on the price of the meal. This is simple price discounting based on repeat purchases. No other marketing activities are carried out - either by the loyalty card company, or by the restaurant - to proactively influence the number of times the card holder frequents the restaurant - they rely solely on the meal discount to attract customers back for more meals. This is a system that is woefully underexploited. I asked about the level of detail that was transmitted to the card site - and was once again disappointed - only the total meal cost was transmitted. The customer profile that was being created was extremely superficial. My view was further confirmed when I asked whether the 'significant other', or other family members' details were collected. Once again, no. The key things wrong with this service offering:
Lack of transaction details. These days, with broadband communication and high volume data disks, there is really no excuse not to collect data at transaction level. The simple act of recording the bill at individual meal item level opens up a wealth of information:
Number of main meals - if there are children in the family unit (provided during signup), analysis of the bill will provide a clear indication of whether the whole family always eats out, or if on occaision the parents treat themselves to a quiet night on their own - possibly anniversaries, or birthdays, or just a regular night away from the kids. Types of meals - red meat, fish, vegetarian - which could be used for special promotions Beer, cheap wine, or expensive wine drinker
If you had the above information at your finger tips, who would you rather focus your marketing efforts on to get to come back to your restaurant - the family of six that buys budget meals, and drinks beer and soda, or 3 couples ordering starters, high-priced meals, drinking quality wine, and finishing off with expensive liqueurs?
Even recording the value of the tip could be useful. A usually-generous tipper who awards a low tip (possibly to a new waiter) is giving a clear indication of a bad experience. This information could be used by the restaurant owner to contact the customer within a few days to establish what was wrong with the meal or service, and to invite the customer back with an offer of a generous discount for the next meal. Not getting the details of the 'significant other' and details of any children prevents marketing to special days. Its pretty pointless merely getting the birthday of the cardholder - it's not that compelling to get an SMS or postcard suggesting that you treat yourself to a special night out. It's far more effective to receive a prompt to take your significant other out for that special meal. Children's birthdays are another opportunity to encourage the family to come out to the restaurant for a slap-up meal -but this is only possible if you take the trouble to collect the data...
Hopefully the above points have provided some ideas as to how basic transaction data can be used effectively by an information analyst or direct marketer. If you are approached by a vendor to implement a loyalty scheme, or you are thinking about calling for proposals from scheme suppliers, make sure that you investigate the level of data detail that each supplier collects. If data is recorded at line item level - i.e. product ID, quantity, and price - then you will have a wealth of sales data that you can start using for a variety of campaigns. If they only provide you with a bill total per meal, then I suggest you look elsewhere for a more effective loyalty card scheme. 2005 Intellinova (Pty) Ltd. - All Rights Reserved

To Internet Date Or Not To Internet Date: That Is The Current Question
By Faith McDermott If anyone had suggested I try internet dating, I would have given them a look of disdain, that would have spoken volumes. I had been in a long term relationship, and had been out of the dating game for awhile. Still, having heard from a friend or two that theyd taken that route, I openly told them how crazy I thought it was. Trying to get to know someone face to face was difficult enough , much less hidden behind a computer screen. They could be talking to just about anybody, I warned. They would have a profile, a picture/s, and the exchange of conversation via e-mail,or IM. It seemed more an opportunity for fantasy rather than reality. Well I eventually ended my long term relationship, and found myself back in the world of dating once again. I had forgotten what it felt like to be single. In addition the big 40 was around the corner. When I was younger dating had been fun and exciting for me. I had done so with relative ease. Now it seemed a foreign concept to me. I had not expected to be doing the dating thing at this particular stage of my life, but here I was... I work on line so I was always getting dating site invitations, and one day , as a lark I decided to try it. After all this was the perfect way to get my feet wet,(I convinced myself) or at least my big toe. I didnt tell any of my friends of course, for all the obvious reasons. The site I chose offered a 30 day trial, just enough time to see what this whole on line dating thing was all about. I put together what I thought was a pretty good profile, that expressed who I was without going into the deeper parts of myself, and I also posted a picture.(You get more responses that way) I was extremely flattered by the amount of mail I found Id received the following day, and so my journey began in the "Art of the Internet Dating Dance". lol. It took a long time for me to feel at ease with the whole process. I actually felt like I was on a first date the first time a potential suitor instant messaged me. lol. I would eventually get the hang of it, and found myself chatting to more than a few gentleman over the period of a year. I had several long distance connections in my first few attempts, which made it easy for me to take things slowly. However after awhile , you begin to want more than that. I eventually did date; taking all the procautions I felt I should. The internet, was to me, a bit riskier than the regular dating scene. Just like in the normal channels of dating you have those who have less than honorable motives. There trying to make a "different" kind of connection. I still have not found that special guy I'm looking for on or off the internet, but I'm checking out all avenues by which I might meet that special someone. However, on line of late, I've been experiencing a large amount of extremely handsome fake pictures presented to me, a collection of very horny guys, and a strange amount of young male admirers(flattering, but not my speed). I am definitely considering cutting this experience short, and exclusively going back to meeting men the old fashioned way. You know, unnecessary supermarket trips, clubbing, church mixers, or when all else fails, coffee(I don't drink it) at Starbucks. At the end of all this, it still boils down to finding what works for you; and if that's internet dating, then have at it. Just make sure to always use sound judgement, and good safety measures when chatting on line, or meeting in person. It's very easy to get caught up when were dealing with affairs of the heart, but remember not everyone is on line with good intentions... Salvation of the Professing Christians
By Sustines Laplana The way of salvation that professing Christians, like Born Again Christians, knew is too easy to do. According to them, by just accepting Christ as personal savior is enough for us to be saved on Judgment Day. This pronouncement is backed them up with the John 3:16 verse of the Bible which says: 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV) But, is it really true that by merely believing Christ, you will be saved or will receive eternal life? It is true that according to the verse quoted above, those who will believe Christ will have eternal life. However, is it enough to believe Christ and we have nothing to do for our faith? Apostle James has this question too:14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? (James 2:14, ibid)It is actually obvious that faith alone can't save us, because faith are justified by works.24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. (James 2:24, NKJV)If you have faith alone in Christ but you did nothing to prove your faith, then your faith is dead.26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (James 2:26, ibid)In other words, if you believe in Christ, then you should follow His command, isn't it? And according to Christ Himself, what should a man do for him to be saved? Christ said, those who will enter by Him will be saved.9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. (John 10:9, ibid)And those who enter Christ became parts of His body.4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. (Romans 12:4-5, ibid)The body of Christ is the church.18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18, ibid)However, this church is not just any churches. It is the church that Christ built by Himself and claimed it as His own.18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18, ibid)It is not the Catholi Church, nor the Protestant Churches nor any Christian Ministries, but it is the Church of Christ:16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you. (Romans 16:16, ibid)In other words, faith alone in Christ is useless. If you want to be saved on the day of God's wrath, your faith must have works. To believe in Christ is to follow his command, that is, to become part of his body the church. But why should we need to become members of the Church of Christ for us to be saved? It is because, Christ will saved His Church.23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. (Ephesians 5:23, ibid)And outside the Church of Christ is God's judgment.13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore put away from yourselves the evil person. All About Acrylic Nails
By Morgan Hamilton Thanks for visiting and finding my article. What follows is information that I have pulled together from many different sources. I hope you find it both interesting and helpful. I certainly don't claim to be an expert on acrylic nails but did have a bit of fun writing this. One of the latest trends in nail care and style is acrylic nails. These nails come is a number of designs and colors catered to the customers tastes. The nails are commonly applied for a special occasion, but many women choose to use acrylic nails as part of their regular beauty routine. Using these nails is a fantastic way to lengthen and strengthen short, brittle nails. Some people actually use the nails to stop themselves from biting their nails. Nail biting is a tough habit to break. Artificial nails are a wonderful deterrent for the habit because the nails are quite strong and nearly impossible to chew. For this reason, many people choose to maintain acrylic nails on a regular basis. Routine maintenance also stuff splitting and breaking of the nails. The bi-weekly maintenance for artificial nails is less trouble than maintaining natural nails. Beautiful nails sure can be sexy, there's no denying that. The industry itself is huge, from the products that are sold, to the nail technicians that service the needs of individuals. Many nail technicians suggest that acrylic nails should be cared for as if they were natural nails. It is a good idea to avoid exposing the nails to water for an extended period of time. The water can seep in between the acrylic and the natural nail, causing damage and possible infection. Wearing rubber gloves when washing dishes is recommended, but aside from that, artificial nail wearers can go about their usual routines without worry, especially if the nails are applied using quality materials. The acrylic nails that are created by mixing a powder with a liquid. Nail artist literally paint and shape the nails into place using this mixture. The liquid recommended by most professional nail technicians is Ethyl Methacrylate, or EMA. Ethyl Methacrylate is a little more expensive than its alternative, Methyl Methacrylate or MMA. Methyl Methacrylate is commonly used because it is more cost-effective. However, MMA is linked to a number of harmful side effects, including skin irritations and irregular nail growth. Most nail artisans urge customers to choose Ethyl Methacrylate because of its superior quality. Excellent materials and proper nail care insures consumers that their nails will enhance their hands with style and safety. Once care and maintenance are in place, a regular acrylic nail customer can concentrate on nail color, design and trends. One of the classic nail color combinations is found in the French manicure. This design is simply a natural nail color accompanied by white tips. This is a popular option for many women because the colors compliment any outfit. Some customers are a little more daring and want to play with color. Nail artists create a plethora of designs ranging from stars to teddy bears. In addition to color, many people choose to add a little sparkle. Nail artists and technicians offer inserts that are imbedded right into the acrylic. Some more exotic choices include tiny gems and stickers that come in a huge range of shapes, designs and colors. A very popular current trend is nail piercing. A nail technician pierces the nail with a piece of jewelry. Doing this on natural nails is virtually impossible so you can see that acrylic nails offer great flexibility. A typical nail application service takes about an hour. Maintenance sessions at the nail salon usually take about 15 minutes. The process is relatively quick and doesn't cost very much. Acrylic nails are a cost-effective, easily maintained enhancement to a persons grooming routine. Morgan Hamilton offers his findings and insights regarding the world of health and beauty. Toxic Ingredients in Cosmetics and Skin Care Products
By Neil Groom Have you ever examined the ingredients listed on the labels of your cosmetics or other skin care products? Do you know what those ingredients are? What you may not realize is that many of the skin care products and cosmetics you are buying contain ingredients that are not only harmful to your skin, but also to your long term health. Many of these ingredients are known carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) and are used by the cosmetic industry simply because they are cheap! Harmful Ingredients Commonly Found in Skin Care Products and Cosmetics -
The following are just some of the synthetic chemicals that have been identified by scientific studies to be harmful to our health. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) -
Often described as being "derived from coconut" to disguise their toxic nature, these chemicals are commonly used in shampoos, toothpaste, foaming facial and body cleansers and bubble bath. SLS and ALS can cause severe skin irritation, and are easily absorbed into the body, building up in the brain, heart, lungs and liver, leading to potential long term health problems. SLS and ALS may also cause cataracts, and prevent children's eyes from developing properly. Paraben Preservatives -
Parabens are widely used in cosmetics, deodorants, skin care and baby products to prolong their shelf life. They are known to be highly toxic and have caused rashes and allergic reactions. Recent scientific studies in the UK found a strong link between the use of parabens and the increasing rate of breast cancer in women. Researchers found a high concentration of parabens in 90% of breast tumors tested. Propylene Glycol -
Found in many beauty creams, cosmetics and cleansers, Propylene Glycol can cause skin rashes and contact dermatitis, and has been shown to cause damage to the kidneys and liver. Isopropyl Alcohol -
Alcohol is used as a solvent in many skin care products. It causes skin irritation and strips the skin of its natural acid mantle, promoting the growth of bacteria, moulds and viruses. It may also cause premature ageing of skin. DEA (Diethanolamine), TEA (Triethanolamine) and MEA (Monoethanolamine) -
These substances are harsh solvents and detergents that are used in cosmetics and face and body creams as an emollient. They can cause allergic reactions, and long term use of DEA-based products (such as Cocamide DEA) have been linked to an increase in the incidence of liver and kidney cancer. Aluminum -
A common ingredient in antiperspirants, aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer's Disease. Mineral Oil -
Derived from petroleum (crude oil), mineral oil is commonly found as a main ingredient of face and body creams and cosmetics. Baby oil is 100% mineral oil! It coats the skin like a plastic film, clogging pores and stopping the skin from eliminating toxins, which can lead to acne and other skin disorders. Other petroleum based ingredients include paraffin wax, paraffin oil and petrolatum. Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) -
Used as a thickener in skin care products and cosmetics, PEGs interfere with the skin's natural moisture balance, causing an increase in ageing and leaving the skin vulnerable to bacteria. Talc -
Talc is a soft mineral used in talcum powders and cosmetic powders. Scientific studies have shown that routine application of talcum powder to the genital area is linked with a three-to-fourfold increase in the development of ovarian cancer. Inhaling cosmetic powders containing talc may also be harmful to long term health. How To Avoid These Toxins -
Examine the labels of your cosmetics and skin care products carefully, and learn to recognize ingredients that are harmful to your skin and to your health. Many web sites have lists of potentially harmful ingredients in addition to those shown above (e.g. Environmental Working Group). Don't be fooled by the words 'natural' or 'organic' on the front of the label. Many products contain at least one or two natural or organic ingredients, but they may also contain harmful synthetic chemicals as well. Whenever possible, choose products with 100% natural ingredients such as essential oils and herbs. Your skin will love you for it! New!
