Cure Anxiety and Panic Attacks | My Life Story

By Justin Brooke Positive thinking is not always easy, however if you used a positive thinking strategy on something you hated, you could learn to love it. You could even use it to cure anxiety and panic attacks. Your thoughts are not physical, they are simply thoughts and you have to understand that. No matter what you think, you do have the power to change your thoughts. Think of a thought as if it were a solid red brick for just a moment. Ok so now you have this solid red brick in front of you. How would you change its shape? Well, first you might think of grabbing a tool, like a hammer. By using this tool (hammer) you can start to change the shape of your solid red brick by strategically breaking pieces off. Your mind has the exact same powers with your thoughts. Your mind is the tool in which you can use to re-shape your thoughts. As soon as you learn how to do this and apply it to your anxiety you will gain immense powers against panic attacks. I applied this and a few other things listed in my full report to cure anxiety and panic attacks for myself. It got to the point where I would feel the panic attack brewing, and then welcome it, beg it to come! Panic is a coward! It only wants to fight you if you are scared of it. The moment I would beg the panic attack to come in, I would lose the feeling and in a few minutes totally forget the slight encounter. I compare it to when/if you meet a wild dog in the woods - whoever shows fear first loses! There are techniques to get out of a panic attack and they work, but who wants to wait around for a panic attack to hit before getting help? I feel it is important to include the tricks I used on my way to a cure for anxiety and panic attacks. You as a reader deserve to know what has worked for me successfully in the past. Techniques to a stop even the worst panic attacks:

Close your eyes, select a place you feel most comfortable at. Then an activity you like to do. Walk yourself through the steps of entering that desirable place and then through the activity you enjoy doing there. The key to success with this technique is to imagine fine details.
For example, if your enjoy playing cards, picture yourself entering a card game, holding the cards, shuffling the cards, competing against other players and winning. Remember positive thinking - there are no bad situations in this technique.
Cold showers. The colder the shower the better this technique works.
Tell yourself out loud, thank you anxiety for warning me something could be wrong, but right now I am sitting (whatever your actions are when the panic attack occurs) and nothing is wrong with me. I appreciate your concern. This only works if its said aloud.
Finally, stay busy. If your mind is concerned with the environment around you, it wont have time to deal with your anxiety.
These techniques force your mind to think about something other than your panic attack. During a panic attack your brain thinks irrationally, these techniques will allow you to pull yourself back out. I have alot more information and my actual cure anxiety and panic attacks recipe in my report. Visit www.newanxietycure.com for more information. Creating Japanese Gardens

By Tim Birch Japanese gardens create landscapes which resembles nature through the careful placement of trees, shrubs, rocks, sand, artificial hills, ponds, and water. Zen and Shinto traditions have greatly influenced Japanese gardening and as a result the gardens are contemplative and serene spaces. It is essential that all the elements work well together within the garden and that the relationship between rocks, plants and water is well thought out. The basic landscape elements found in most Japanese gardens include trees, shrubs, rocks, gravel, water, moss, stones and fences. Boulders are often used as centerpieces and provide the garden with a feeling of stability. Gravel is used to imitate the flow of water and other small stones are used to create boundaries and are turned into sculptural lanterns. Water, whether it be in the form of a pond, stream, or waterfall, is an essential part of a Japanese garden. It can be actual water or a symbolic representation, either way, it is vital to the Japanese garden. In Japanese gardening there are three basic ways to create a landscape scene. The first of these is reduced scale. Reduced scale is the art of taking an actual scene from nature, mountains, rivers, trees, and all, and reproducing it on a smaller scale. Symbolization is abstract and could include using white sand to symbolize water and boulders to symbolize islands. Borrowed views refers to the use of distant a landscapes, such as a mountain, and incorporating it into the garden. There are several types of Japanese gardens. Zen garden are meant to be viewed rather than entered. They are comprised of a mix of boulders, gravel or sand, moss and a limited number of trees an shrubs. Carefully placed stones symbolize islands while the gravel or sand, raked into interesting patterns, symbolizes water. Zen gardens help clear the mind and aid in contemplation. Another type of Japanese garden is the tea garden. The tea garden is considered a ceremonial space which consists of an outer garden and an inner garden. Tea gardens are small and are ideal for those gardens with limited space. The outer garden is informal and consists of an entry gate to and a stone path leading toward the inner garden. Another stone path flows through the inner garden, whose plants are more formally placed. The inner path leads to a small building where the actual tea ceremony is performed. Another garden appropriate for a small space or patio is the courtyard garden. The design of the Japanese courtyard garden is kept simple and is usually built to be observed from inside the house. It could, however, be planned so it is a useable outdoor space. Consisting of a few plants, a small water feature, a dry stream, or other simple elements, the Japanese courtyard garden allows nature and light to flow into your home through large windows and patio doors. The above examples are just a few Japanese garden styles. Before designing and planting your own garden, look through some garden books and search for photos of Japanese gardens online. Japanese gardens are intended to create a meditative and relaxing experience. A little planning and research will help you design a serene and beautiful landscape which will delight all who visit your garden. Tim Birch is the publisher of http://www.gardenlistings.com . Becoming a Vegan?

By Davinos Greeno Depending on one's level of commitment this can include not using certain medicines because they are tested for safety on animals. A Vegan will not buy or use animal products whether thats a steak, an egg, bread with milk in it or leather shoes. The overall goal of veganism is to reduce animal suffering, environmental damage, hunger in the developing world and risks to our own health. Veganism takes all those advantages just a little further. For very many people concerned about any or all of these problems, it seems the natural step to take from vegetarianism. Why do people choose to become Vegan? Animal Welfare - Despite the common belief that drinking milk or eating eggs does not kill animals, commercially raised dairy cows and egg-laying chickens, whether factory-farmed or 'free range,' are slaughtered when their production rates decline, not to mention the appalling conditions to which they are kept. There is an ongoing debate on the finer points of what constitutes an animal product; The Vegan Society and most vegans include insect products such as honey in their definition as well. The environment - Animal agriculture takes a devastating toll on the earth. It is an inefficient way of producing food, since feed for farm animals requires land, water, fertilizer, and other resources that could otherwise have been used directly for producing human food. Health - The consumption of animal fats and proteins has been linked to heart disease, colon and lung cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, kidney disease, hypertension, obesity, and a number of other debilitating conditions. Cows' milk contains ideal amounts of fat and protein for young calves, but far too much for humans. According to Gill Langley, a Ph.D. in biology and author of Vegan Nutrition, "it is clear from the example of many thousands of vegans worldwide that a varied plant-based diet not only supports health and well-being but, additionally, can have positive health benefits" (Langley 1995). A vegan diet is protective against such major killers as heart disease and cancer. Eating fewer animal products is a good choice for the environment and your conscious. Animal agriculture produces surprisingly large amounts of air and water pollution, and causes 80 percent of the world's annual deforestation. It also requires large amounts of water, and livestock worldwide consumes half the world's total grain harvest.
How Do I Know its Vegan? When shopping, look out for the Vegan Society Logo. It appears on thousands of animal free products that have been registered with The Vegan Society. You will need to examine the packaging and labelling carefully of all non registered products to ensure that you avoid animal by-products such as gelatin and rennet which can be found in everyday items such as children's sweets. Take Bad Credit History Unsecured Loans without Credit Worries

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor Are you a victim of unavoidable circumstances which compelled you to default on loan repayments and debts begun mounting on you? What is worse for you is that you are labeled as bad credit and loan availing for urgent expenditures has become a tough task. Your bad credit history however does not matter much anymore as there are specialist lenders around who provide bad credit history unsecured loans. The loan is tailor made for tenants or non-homeowners who do not own a property to take a loan against and to offset bad credit. Bad credit history unsecured loans are usually applied for by tenants or non-homeowners, though homeowners also are eligible. Bad credit history means the borrower repeatedly defaulted on loan repayments and as a consequence had to face county court judgments. With all these negative developments recorded in tenants credit report, his credit score gets a heavy beating. On FICO credit score scale ranging from 300 to 850, a bad credit is labeled when credit score falls below 580. Though nothing much can be done about bad credit history and bad credit score immediately, but in taking bad credit history unsecured loans, lenders are more concerned about seriousness of the tenant in paying back installments in a timely manner. So before approaching the lender, it would be wise to pay off easy debts if any. Also check your credit report for any inaccuracies. Lenders main concern in a loan offer is the safe and timely return of the loan. In bad credit history unsecured loans, lenders face a two fold risk; there is no property to secure the loan and bad credit history which means the borrower can repeat payment default. So it all boils down to what extent the borrower is able to convince the lender about safe repayment of bad credit history unsecured loans. This means documents of annual income, service years spent as an employee and bank statements are crucial and play a major role. Show these documents to the lender. Also make a very convincing repayment plan stating how much of money you are left with after paying for routine expenses and paying previous loans. This way lender exactly knows about your repayment capacity and offers you bad credit history unsecured loans without any collateral. Remember that in the cut-throat loan market where competition is getting tougher, lenders are more interested in your present income rather than bad credit. However, because of risks, lenders provided a smaller amount under bad credit history unsecured loans. The interest rate also is kept higher to cut risks and for the same reason, repayment duration ranges up to few years. Tenants usually require smaller loan so paying higher interest in shorter repayment duration is generally not a big problem for them. But instead of applying to any lender, first look for a lender that suits your budget. Each bad credit history unsecured loans provider has displayed own interest rate and terms-conditions on websites. Compare them and apply online to the chosen lender. Online bad credit history unsecured loans providers approve the loan faster for timely use. Surely bad credit history unsecured loans come to the rescue of borrowers like tenants who are suffering from bad credit. Make sure the loan installments are regularly paid off so that credit score gets repaired and in future loan availing becomes a lot easier. Ten Amazing Ways To Increase Attraction at a Trade Show

By Catherine Franz These ideas are for anyone that has a small budget to work with or is just starting to expand into exhibiting at trade shows.
You can even use these tips and techniques whenever you are speaking or presenting -- at Toastmasters, delivering workshops -- or even eLearning activities.
1. Have a visual point at your booth -- like a power point show or a television with a video playing. Put together a workshop video, even if it isn't professional quality. People will usually not look at it more than three minutes before they feel conspicuous and will approach you.
2. Have a picture album with success stories and pictures. Especially great for independent professionals selling a intangible product. Pictures of workshop attendees having fun and doing various projects or eating together or a Christmas party in your office with your clients is very connecting and attractive. Please like to belong to things that they perceive as "successful."
3. Have a drawing for something that is valuable and attractive to them. Don't give away something laying around your office or something that has your ego attached, this very unattractive.
4. Candy bowl. One they have to reach deep. Don't fill it up, let it look like there isn't much left -- that is even more attractive. They want to reach in before it's all gone. They will take less too (chuckle)>
5. Hire a model with brains and a marketing background to assist you. Someone "very attractive."
6. Do what they do in grocery stores, demonstrate how to use your product. Wear a mike and have a small speaker attached. Buy the headset mike like professional singers use. The connection to that alone will attract (second chuckle).
7. Wear clothes with your logo. Name tags are great for participants but displaying your logo or name is important for building your brand. If you can't afford to have them done, create your own. There are transfer materials made for your ink jet printers (see your office supply store), find some nice shirts/blouses, and go create.
8. Don't just stand behind the booth, go in front of the booth and mix and mingle.
9. Stand up behind the booth with a smile. If you get tired go sit somewhere else and have someone there that has an attractive approachable energy. Rule of thumb is to rotate the energy every 30 to 60 minutes.
10. Display your web site name big and bold in the background. Make the name a different color than the "www" and the ".com".
Here's a bonus for you. How about going in with another one-person business and sharing the costs. One that I like to use, is to work with someone like does chair-massages. It is a big attractor to people.
Oops, let me slip in another tip -- let's call it a super bonus -- for getting this far in your the reading and in your mindset. If you are a shy person, a dead way to sell at a trade show, hire a trade show presenter.
A trade show presenter is experienced at attracting people to your booth. Their fee may seem expensive, and I said I was going to keep these tips in the inexpensive realm, yet then if your ROI gains from it, it will pay for itself. And these experts on presenting at trade shows will pull in the people all the time. Find someone training for this type of work and you might even be able to barter. Choosing The Right Cosmetic Colors For YOU!

By Jessica Tracy The first thing you need to do before picking out colors is to decide if you have a Warm, Neutral or Cool skin tone. One way to do this is to take a good look at yourself in a mirror in natural sunlight. Decide if your skin color has more Blue or Yellow to it, or if they are pretty well even. More Blue = Cool
More Yellow = Warm
Equal = Neutral Another way to find out what skin tone you have is to compare your skin to the colors Silver and Gold. Generally if your skin looks good with Gold, you have a warm skin tone, Silver means cool, and if it looks good with both, then you have Neutral. Sometimes it can be hard to tell on yourself, so you may want to ask a friend to help you decide. Once you have decided your skin tone, it is time to choose a Concealer, Foundation and Powder. Depending on where you buy your cosmetics from, you may have a hard time figuring out which one looks best on your skin tone. Avon products are labeled with a W, C or N to decipher which skin tone they are best for. After this, the best way to choose a Concealer, foundation and powder is to try it out! Generally for concealer, you should pick one that is a shade lighter than your natural skin tone, so that when you use it to cover dark areas and imperfections it will blend and look natural. If you have a lot of red spots (acne, scars, etc.) then you should also look into getting a Green spot neutralizer, you use this under concealer to neutralize the red spot and make it look natural. After you have chosen the right concealer for yourself, you should choose a liquid foundation that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. If you have freckles it is recommended to match the color with your lightest freckles to help even out your skin color. Your powder should match your liquid foundation as closely as possible and be used last out of the 3. After this you should choose an eye shadow. Again, depending on where you purchase your cosmetics you may have trouble finding shades that look good on you as they arent always labeled for skin tones. From my experience I have found that for Cool skin tones, Pinks, Berries and Blue/greys seem to look best, for Warm skin tones Earth tones tend to look best (greens & browns and some reds ESPECIALLY for redheads), and for Neutral Skin tones, I try to combine the 2. After you have chosen and applied the appropriate eyeshadow, you should apply an eyeliner and Mascara. For people with light colored hair, brown or brown/black is an excellent choice of eyeliner and mascara. For people with Darker hair, Black is best, Although black looks very dramatic on anyone, it is a great choice for evening time. After eyeliner and mascara it is time to choose and apply a lipstick. Generally you should match your lipstick to your eyeshadow, keep it in the same general color family, so if you are wearing pink eyeshadow, try a similar color lipstick, maybe a shade darker or lighter. Grey eyeshadow looks great with different shades of red lipstick! As a rule of thumb, if your eyeshadow is shimmery, you should avoid shimmery lipsticks, and vice-versa. I recommend to all of my clients to DAB lipstick on, not to swipe it across their lips. By dabbing you have more control over the intensity of the color and you can make a more natural or bold look. As with everything, this is just a guideline, play around with your makeup, take whatever seems helpful and leave the rest, this is just meant to give some suggestions, the best way to find out what looks best on you, is to try different things out! Good luck! Jessica Tracy is a work at home mom of 2 little boys, and currently runs 2 home based businesses. Flowers Guide

By Joel S. Taylor Flowers tend to be the gift of choice for many special occasions, including Mothers Day, Easter, and Valentines Day. But did you know that flowers speak a language all their own? Every flower has a unique meaning based on its color and other distinguishing characteristics, so the next time you decide to buy a beautiful bouquet for someone you love, make sure the flowers you choose convey the right message. Roses: Roses are the popular choice when it comes to flower selection. Modern cultivators of the rose tend to emphasize color and size more than any other aspect of the flower, whereas wild roses are often characterized by a strong, sweet scent. For thousands of years, the rose has stood as a symbol for love and beauty. But the different rose colors also represent specific sentiments. For instance, red roses symbolize love, pink signify grace, and white convey innocence, purity, and secrecy. Yellow roses represent platonic love, and orange are symbolic of passion. Lilies: Lilies are large-flowering and showy. They are often fragrant and come in a variety of colors including white, yellow, and red. Depending on the color, lilies can signify youthful innocence, purity, modesty, virginity, majesty, beauty, wealth, pride, and prosperity. Tulips: Tulips are native to southern Europe, North Africa, and Asia. The European use of the word tulip was probably taken from the Persian word for turban, as flowers were often worn in the folds of a turban. Tulip meanings include: perfect lover, hopeless love, fame, love, and passion. They can say, Believe me, There is sunshine in your smile, and I love you. Iris: Deriving its name from the Latin word for rainbow, the iris is a flower that comes in many colors, as you might expect. Irises symbolize faith, wisdom, valor, promise, and hope. The fleur-de-lys also represents the Kings of France and is the official flower for the city of New Orleans. Orchids: There are many varieties of orchids, more than any other plant family. Orchids were very popular and widely distributed in the 19th century, resulting in about 25, 000 varieties. Orchids represent love, beauty, refinement, and mature charm. Daisies: Daisies have been admired by people for thousands of years, and used as decoration for just as much time. In ancient Greece and Egypt, this pretty flower inspired the local artists to create hairpins and ceramics decorated with its likeness. The daisy embodies notions of innocence, loyal love, purity, gentleness, and romance. It also sends the message, I'll never tell to someone whose secrets you have promised to keep. Sunflowers: Its no surprise where the sunflower got its name this flower always faces the sun. Originating in Central and South America, sunflowers were originally cultivated for practical uses, rather than for beauty. The sunflower has different meanings, depending on the culture. In China it is seen as a symbol of longevity, while Native Americans leave a bowl of sunflower seeds on the graves of their deceased loved ones as a sign of grief. Carnations: Hailing from the Near East, carnations have been a part of human culture for the past 2000 years. The origins of the name are contested, but it is generally thought to derive from the Greek word carnis(flesh), perhaps referring to the original color for which this flower was known. Carnations are the perfect emblem of womanly love, devoted love, and admiration. Carnations say, My heart aches for you, and Ill never forget you, so if you send someone you love a bouquet of fresh carnations youve made the right choice. Another Expensive Marketing Mistake: Assuming Too Much

By Marte Cliff What should you assume about your audience? When you're writing to professionals in any field, you can assume that they know the terminology. You can also assume professionals know why they need the equipment they use every day - so you can get right down to showing why your product is best. But should you assume that they know who you are, and where you are? An advertisement in our local newspaper today was a prime example of assuming too much. I need to back up just a bit. Ours is a very small town, located about 30 miles from a slightly larger town. The half-page ad in today's newspaper was for rental space available in a commercial building in that larger town. Now, most of the people who have lived here for at least 20 or 30 years know the building and its history. So when the ad said that rental spaces are now available in the "Cedar Street Bridge" and showed a large photograph, most long time residents would know automatically that it is not in our town - but in the next town down the highway. But nowhere in the ad did it say that Should the advertiser assume that only long-term residents would want his rental space? In this community, quite the opposite is true. His most likely prospects are people moving into the area, bringing their businesses with them. Our small town weekly newspaper is mailed out all over the United States. People who are thinking of relocating to our area subscribe, as do past residents. Since the ad doesn't say otherwise, most of these people will assume that the building is in this town. I can envision people reading this ad and thinking "Wow, when did that get built?" or "That looks like the perfect spot for my small boutique." I can also envision people driving all over trying to find the Cedar Street Bridge. There is a Cedar Street in this town, but it has no large commercial buildings, and it has no water to necessitate a bridge. This is a classic case of assuming too much. If you go to the trouble and expense of placing an ad - unless you do all of your business by phone or e-mail - it should include your business location. Newspaper ads are not free, or even inexpensive. Be sure each includes the important details. If you've handed over your information and asked the newspaper to set up your ad, ask to see you a proof before they run the ad. Otherwise, you might as well take that money out in a windstorm and let it fly away. 5 Ways To Influence The Way Your Teen Dresses

By Christina Botto For most of the country, March means warmer weather and fewer clothes. Sweaters and coats are exchanged with short sleeves and shorts or skirts. Arms, legs, and body are exposed to the warmth of the sun - and the eyes of young men. Parent's worries increase at the same rate their teen's clothing decreases. Telling our teen not to wear a particular outfit, not to dress so revealing, or to cover up will most likely be responded with: "It's the hottest thing this spring!" or "That's what today's teens wear!" - making us feel old and out of the loop. Fortunately there are quite a few things parents can do when it comes to the way your teen dresses: Know what's hot - visit web sites such as: Teenfashionista - a blog monitored by Casey featuring fashion trends, styles, and shopping advice for teens. Fashionclub - an excellent web site for the teen who wants more than just the latest trends. It has a fashion club and a career studio which is affiliated with the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Both of these web sites have fashions for girls as well as boys. Look at your teen's magazines and discuss models and clothing. Help your teen to decide which types of clothing would fit best with their individual body type. Visit web sites that give advice on which clothing fits what body type with your teen. Two web sites I found very helpful are: Fashion Tips Buy Clothes to suit Your Shape - for girls Ask Andy About Clothes - for boys Go shopping with your teen. Spend a day at the mall trying on all kinds of different outfits, even those you do not intend to buy, wear, or would not be "caught dead" in. Comment on how the outfits look, and what you do or do not like about them. Besides having a day with a lot of laughs, you will also have the opportunity to find out about your teen's taste in clothes. You will learn which tops and bottoms your daughter finds too revealing, and give you the opportunity to listen and to learn about your teens opinions. You also will have the chance to reinforce moral standards while creating fond memories that will last a lifetime. Fathers - explain to your daughter that the way she dresses does affect how boys perceive her. It is not necessary to paint an ugly picture, but girls need the male perspective to understand the feelings they evoke in boys when dressing provocatively. Between Scholarship Programs and Student Loans

By Low Jeremy For those who wish to study and finish college but cannot afford the high cost of education, you have 2 choices, either you apply for a scholarship program or you apply for a student loan. While entering a scholarship program seems more reasonable than taking student loan, both still have their pros and cons. Of course, when you apply and happen to enter college under a scholarship program, you dont have to worry about the finances and fees you have to pay for the entire duration of your studies. There are also thousands of grants that are up for grab every year. Scholarship programs have designed system that works to facilitate every student depending on their financial needs. Whether you are an intellectual person or someone with an average IQ, you can still fit in into one of the many scholarship programs available. Many scholarship programs cater those who are artists, stage performers, athletes, and students with special skills in other fields. They may not have high level of intelligence but they can get scholarships with their talents. Scholarship programs are also available to students of race, minorities, foreigners, and other sector of society that needs financial assistance. Other programs are also given not only on college students but also on students who want to pursue further studies. Many institutions also offer scholarship programs that for their members like union groups and religious organizations among others. In case you dont fit in to one of the criteria of becoming a scholar, the option to take is student loan. Student loan is a type of financial aid that helps student to pay their tuition provided that they would pay all the expenses back to their sponsors. If scholarships do not ask for return, student loans do. The good thing about student loan is that you can move freely as a regular student in the campus without worrying so much of maintaining high grades and skipping other activities to attend gym practice or early morning job. Although you can always apply for scholarships under the available grants, you are the one who choose what it is. A drawback though (if you want to consider it a drawback since you have already finished your studies) is that you have to pay the amount you have barrowed from the student loan up to the last cent. Although you have to do this when you are working, it may seem to be a burden to you. But who cares? The important thing is whether you finish your college through scholarship program or student loan, you can still be proud of your achievement. Planning A Wedding On A Budget? It's Easier Than You Think!

By Aleisha McCormack Planning a wedding should be fun, special and romantic! It shouldnt be stressful, hectic or harrowing. I have seen too many of my girlfriends flip out because they were restricted with money and lacked the motivation and nerves that it sometimes takes to get that discount! While helping my friends, along the way I have collected hundreds of useful web links of US vendors, discount suppliers and best of all proven ways to save big bucks when organising a wedding. A wedding should be a day to remember but there is also the reality that the average American wedding costs about $22,000? To you, that might just sound like another drab statistic, put there to shatter your wedding day dreams, but lets just take a moment of thinking time. $22,000 could easily be a deposit on a house, a new car or for many people enough to pay off their student debt, personal loan, credit card, a house full of new furniture, set of tyres for the car, an overseas holiday and for a treat, a new flat screen TV. Most of us would be horrified at blowing that amount of money on one event but suddenly with the pressure of having a perfect day and getting caught up in the moment, thirty grand doesnt sound like that big a deal. Well it is, and trust me, 5 years (or maybe even 5 months) down the track, when you are trying to afford a holiday, house deposit or car repayments and you think back on your wedding day and how much it cost, you dont want to feel bitter. There are many ways to save money on your wedding day and still have the ceremony and reception that your heart desires. It doesnt make you cheap for wanting to cut costs there are many creative ways small and large, to shave the dollars off the overall bill. I was always told if you dont ask for a discount, the seller sure as hell isnt going to offer you one. That is rule number one of saving money on your wedding. The wedding business in America alone is worth over $72 billion per annum. Think about it. There is a lot of profiting from the wedding businesses going on. And some wedding vendors are really going to town! Although everyone hopes they are only going to get married once, most couples. I am sure; do not want to be paying off their wedding into their retirement. Cost cutting isnt always time consuming. It totally depends on you, how far you want to take the idea of saving money. Being economical with one aspect of the wedding, such as the reception, could allow you to buy that dream gown. There are a lot of compromises that no one will ever know that have been made except you (and your bank account!).
No matter what your budget is, the best way to get a handle on costs is to be organised. As boring as it sounds, before you buy or decide on anything to do with your wedding, you need to sit down with your partner and decide on a budget. The budget can be split into 6 main categories: reception, music, photography, flowers, clothing and miscellaneous.
Keep in mind that 50%of your budget should be allocated to the reception. This will include things such as site fees, food, drink, rentals, service and cake. About 10 percent should be allocated to each of the other five categories.
It is a great idea to carry a notebook with you and record costs, no matter how big or small, that you incur with the planning of the wedding. Then you will have an accurate record of what you have spent along the way. In order to keep within your budget, you must know where your money is going. Words are powerful things, especially when it comes to weddings. I am not just talking about the importance of vows. The word wedding itself is an almighty and dominant tool. Here is an example. I called a local golf club and enquired about the cost of hiring the dining area for an evening function; lets just say a 30th birthday party. There would be 100 guests and I would require all food and beverages to be supplied by the vendor. They get back to me with a quote, $49 per head 2 course meal with all beverages, including alcohol. Seems reasonable. A week later I call the same golf club, but this time I request to hire the function room for a wedding. 100 guests, all food and beverages and a 2 course meal. The function coordinator quotes me $89 per head, not including decorations, seat covers and the fee for the extra staff that they would require! So for using the word wedding, the cost of my function has just increased by $4000, with extra charges still to follow! This is just one of many examples that when using the word wedding it instantly means that the vendor charges an extra 40 to 50%. Remember it is your day! You have to take control and that begins with you deciding that you arent going to settle for the first quote and you arent going to pay full price..not for anything! Now we have that settled, I will leave you with a couple of words of caution. Hiring a wedding planner or supervisor can be a good idea, if you are busy or inexperienced with event planning or simply not that interested in bargaining and organising. Wedding planners by trade are generally people that do an excellent job; they keep on top of the check lists and make sure the wedding runs to plan. But most wedding planners have a nice tight group of suppliers and coordinators that they like to work with and it is often difficult to get them to budge on these suppliers to save money. They too are running a business and their business relies on not only you, but working with certain suppliers. If you do choose to work with a planner, be careful, use common sense and ask lots of questions! When buying items for your wedding, think about their resale price. Get accustomed to doing business on eBay. There are loads of budget brides out there, just like you, that are selling and buying their wedding day items on line. After your wedding is over, prepare all of the items that you wont use again and arent sentimentally attached to, to be sold on eBay. After her wedding, my best friend made $1456 back on all of her unwanted wedding items. Paper lanterns, bridesmaids dresses, unused fancy paper, bridal magazines, her wedding shoes, unused tea light candles and her extra wedding dress (dont even ask me about that one!) all sold very quickly on eBay. She didnt make a profit but she certainly made use of selling items that she probably would never have used again. My other piece of advice, that I implore you to use is, allocate, allocate, allocate! Weddings are huge events to organise and even if you know exactly what you want, and you think you can handle it all on your won, take on the help of others to get the job done, especially in the weeks leading up to the big day. You dont want to be a stressed out mess by the time the wedding day comes along, nor do you want to have isolated yourself from all the people in your life who could have helped you take the heat off. No matter how small the job, whether it is picking up flowers, or dropping off dry cleaning, take the opportunity to assign people with jobs and it will be a massive relief in the long run! Aleisha McCormack loves a bargain! So much so she wrote a book about it. Aleisha is the author of The Budget Bride Guide, bringing you saving ideas and wedding planning tips! http://www.budgetbrideguide.com Her book features hundred of active web links, providing easy alternatives to spending thousands of dollars.
